Mission

Introduction

Each part of the Church today, no matter what tradition it claims as its heritage, lives as an heir to an unbroken succession of simple acts of proclamation. This generation received the Good News from its predecessors and, in turn, passes it on to the next generation. This is how the Church has lived since its beginning and how it will continue until God ushers in his reign and gathers all of his people to himself.

Roots

After God the Father raised his Son, Jesus Christ, from death by the power of their Holy Spirit, our risen Lord appeared to his followers.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”–Matthew 28:16-20, NRSV

Branches in Nebraska

The individuals, congregations and institutions that together make up the Nebraska Synod have received a charge from God to carry out the same mission Jesus gave his followers. As a synod, we take this mission to heart, and say together: Together, we live love with the grace and courage of Jesus.

This mission focuses our ministry. We work together in ministry. We live as Jesus invites us, in love and with the same grace and courage he showed in his earthly ministry.
