NLOM works with youth at Ngarony Youth Camp
Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries
Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries (NLOM), a serving arm of the Nebraska Synod, continues its commitment to working with the ELCT to develop and further the mission of Ngarony Youth Camp.
With a shared mission of working to provide experiences for the Christian growth and spiritual development of our young people, Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries and Ngarony Youth Camp have much in common. “The geography and culture of our places are certainly unique,” says Dave Coker, Executive Director of NLOM. “The overwhelming passion and drive to provide opportunities for kids to grow closer to Christ in a camp setting is our unbreakable common thread,“ he added.
Representatives from NLOM have visited Ngarony Youth Camp in Tanzania. After several years of efforts to bring Ngarony staff to NLOM to work in Nebraska, Pr. Bildad Lema came to spend the summer of 2008 learning, teaching and playing with the combined year-round and summer ministry teams of NLOM. In addition, Pr. Bildad also took many opportunities to spread the news of the ELCT and Ngarony to congregations across Nebraska. “This experience was priceless for us,” said Coker. “I’m confident that Pr. Bildad would echo that feeling–we all learned so much from each other and are sure to continue that learning.”
NLOM and Ngarony will continue their work together through conversation, prayer and friendship!
