This page will serve as a central location to find out the major details about these conferences. Please check back for more information.

Connections III Lay Conference

Growing Engagement‒Deepening Faith

Connections

Save Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21-23, for your chance to become part of the synod-wide network of lay people who are connecting in leadership! They are growing in engagement in their personal lay ministries and they are deepening their faith. Online registration will be available.

Al Winseman, Author-Presenter

Growing Engagement‒Deepening Faith is a conference that addresses the question, “How can we get members re-engaged in the church?” Author-Presenter Al Winseman, Bishop David deFreese, and Pastor Carm Aderman will offer lay leaders hope for the future. You’ll hear about an approach to ministry that is not “just another program” and take home a copy of the new, research-based book Growing an Engaged Church, written by Winseman.

Because last year’s event was so successful, we again ask that every congregation send a minimum of two lay leaders. Earlybird registrations are due by Sept. 26.

Theological Conference

Mainline Protestant Vitality is not an Oxymoron:
How the Neighborhood Church is Transforming the Faith

The synod invites all pastors, associates in ministry, diaconal ministers, deaconesses and parish ministry associates to gather in Grand Island, Oct. 13-15, to reflect on the future of our Church. The keynote speaker, Dr. Diana Butler Bass, author of Christianity for the Rest of Us, will lead us in reflecting on this truth: “Spiritual vitality lives in human beings; it is located at the heart of God’s people and the community they form.”

“Thus says the Lord: ‘Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way lies; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.’”–Jeremiah 6:16a, NRSV
