Welcome!
Assembly 2006 has begun. We hope to have pictures and news stories available online soon. Check back later Thursday evening.
On behalf of the entire Nebraska Synod, the 2006 Synod Assembly planning committee would like to invite you to the 15th Synod Assembly of the Nebraska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in Kearney, Nebraska, June 1-3, 2006
The theme for our assembly is Bound for Greater Things Jesus Christ Transforms Lives. For three days in June, voting members from Nebraska Synod congregations will gather in Kearney for the great work that God has placed before us -- to be the people of God in Christ Jesus, those who proclaim Christ in our congregations and communities, firmly believing that Jesus Christ Transforms Lives. What we do in the church matters and what happens at our assembly in Kearney is important! And this year's assembly looks to be especially significant.
Our time together began Thursday, June 1st with pre-assembly events at the Archway Monument, at the Holiday Inn, and at the Kearney Event Center.
On Friday and Saturday, voting members from the congregations met at the Kearney Events Center to conduct the business of the Synod. One of the highlights of our business this year will be the election of a Bishop for the next six years. We also have the privilege of welcoming to Nebraska Dr. Mark Hanson, Presiding Bishop of the ELCA who will be speaking with us twice. Our keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Barbara Rossing who will be our Bible Study leader and preacher at the closing communion service.
Friday evening, a Banquet at the Holiday Inn will recognize newly certified Parish Ministry Associates and honor rostered professional leaders celebrating significant anniversaries and retirements. For those not wishing to attend the banquet, another meal venue is planned.
We look forward to seeing you in Kearney! Come join us praying, rejoicing, singing and proclaiming that we are Bound for Greater Things-Jesus Christ Transforms Lives!
